slowly getting the hand of the day off again.  Caved and got sushi (salmon) at MB after driving to Meredith and chatting new cars with Rick at Volvo Lovering.  He is 70, been there 21 years.  Has seen the new plant in South Carolina, with beautiful black women working the line, how smart the Chinese owners are to have each worker do every one of the jobs in rotation every few hours to relieve boredom and give them a full sense of how the whole car functions as complete design.  Drove in the rain to Center Harbor and then around through Holderness.  First off in the morning I looked into Artistic Roots.  No good wooden cups.  I now want to go back in the morning and buy Molly Marshall's painting of Arethusa Falls, Livermore Falls.  Then each house would have a waterfall painting.   Read for a while parked in the large lot next to Gusto's beer garden pavilion.  Handke continues to have funny and sharp observations.  "Well, he no longer walks as he once did, in long theatrical steps, a stride bespeaking power, the stride of the last in his line."
